Stardust Casino
On March 13, 2007 an era in Las Vegas came to an end. It was on this day that the famed Stardust Casino was imploded to make way for the building of a new casino. The Stardust Casino was a favorite casino among guests of Las Vegas and a place where everyone was guaranteed a good time. On the day it was imploded, the Stardust Casino had been standing for almost fifty years. However, the Stardust Casino did not go out without the fanfare it deserved. On the day of its implosion, crowds of people swarmed to see a fireworks show followed by the implosion of the casino. Key Features During its busiest days, the Stardust Casino was one of the premier hotels in Las Vegas. The casino housed a convention center, nine restaurants, an exhibition center, a spa, two swimming pools, and a Las Vegas must – a wedding chapel. People came to the Stardust Casino every year to play slot machines, place bets, and have an all around good time. One of the Stardust’s most popular features was its 85,000 square foot gaming area. The Stardust boasted a collection of slot machines, table games, live and video poker, and Keno. In addition, the Stardust Casino’s race and sports book was world renown.
Entertainment
Many people visited the Stardust Casino to enjoy a concert or show in the convention center or exhibition area. One of Las Vegas’ most famous entertainers, Wayne Newton, played at the Stardust for over ten years. Millions of people came to see Wayne Newton during that time and their experience was at the Stardust. There were also a number of other internationally famous acts to perform at the Stardust including George Carlin, Don Rickles, and Dennis Miller. Fine Dining In addition to its entertainment and recreation facilities, the Stardust Casino was home to a number of restaurants that were favorites among frequenters of Las Vegas. William B’s Steakhouse, Sushi King, and Tony Romas were among the hot spots for dining at the Stardust Casino. Tony Romas was famous for its barbeque ribs and boasted the “best ribs in the country.” Those who gathered to see the implosion of the Stardust Casino witnessed a momentous event in Las Vegas history. The Stardust Casino was a major landmark in Las Vegas and will not soon be forgotten. From the 85,000 square foot gaming area to ten years of entertainment by Wayne Newton, the Stardust Casino etched its place in the history of Las Vegas.
